About the Rankings
The ranking is based on the Olympic Games, the World Championships, and the World Cup. The system also includes the ITTF World Ranking, the World Tour Grand Finals, and their historical predecessors. The ranking further incorporates continental championships, which are weighted according to their importance and success on the international stage.
Between 2021 and 2024, table tennis underwent a major transformation with the introduction of the World Table Tennis (WTT) circuit, whose flagship events are the Grand Smash tournaments.
Table tennis features separate rankings for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. In doubles events, the points earned are shared equally between the two players of each pair. In addition to individual results, the national rankings also include team competitions.
